ABOUT THE PROJECT
Inner Powell Alliance (IPA) is an inter-neighborhood collaborative representing four Neighborhood Associations including Brooklyn, Richmond, Creston Kenilworth, and Hosford Abernethy Neighborhood District. This group of community members has been holding monthly planning meetings for more than six months to help guide future goals for the inner SE Powell area (from the River to SE 50th).
Inner Powell Design Initiative is a community project to create a vision and engage the community in both short and longer planing that can better shape anticipated development along our civic corridors.

Powell Planning + Visioning Charrette
To broaden community involvement in planning for one of our city’s key Civic Corridors, the IPA is proposing a one-day community Planning and Visioning Charrette, in partnership with the PDX Main Street Design Initiative (PDX Main Streets) and a team of local planning consultants to engage the community, local government, and diverse neighborhoods around both short and long-term goals for inner SE Powell Boulevard. Funding and sponsorship is being sought to help facilitate this collaborative public engagement event with close involvement from City planning bureaus, local design firms, and others noted below. This goal would be to craft a community vision for future improvements in streetscape design, safety, safe routes to schools, design of new development, pedestrian amenities, and increased connectivity and accessibility for all modes of transport.
Hosted by SMILE, PDX Main Streets Design Initiative and the Sellwood Moreland Business Alliance with support from Qamar Architecture and Town Planning and Forage Design + Planning.
